In his own words

As what many would call a “non-traditional” student, I consider myself fortunate to be a part of the UF Chemistry PhD family. I took a detour to get here by serving as an educator at the high school and community college level for 8 years before returning to school. I’m the father of four children and husband of one wife, and they’re always a constant motivation. I believe diverse representation in the STEM community is vital to brining different perspectives and highlighting various problems in communities that science can help address. I am currently serving as the chair of the Graduate Student Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee and hope my contributions can have a lasting impact on the UF Chemistry graduate community. My research focuses on producing degradable plastics from bio renewable resources to provide an alternative to one of mankind’s greatest waste problems, single use plastics. I hope to my research will have a significant, lasting impact on communities across the globe.
